The faxes you receive don't cost anything extra. Adding days to your number costs the same as buying it, and the days are added to the ones you have left.
Who a fax number is for
A 7-day number suits a one-time reply. When a landlord, a doctor's office or a court clerk says they'll fax the papers back, give them the number, and the fax comes to your email as a PDF.
A 30-day or 1-year number suits a small business or a freelancer who has to put a fax number on a form, an invoice or a letterhead for a while.
If you only need to send a fax, you don't need a number at all. Upload a PDF or photos and send a fax online for $2.49, up to 40 pages.
Questions
How do faxes reach me?
By email. When a fax arrives on your number, we email it to you as a PDF attachment, or as a link to your inbox if the fax is very large. Your private inbox page lists the same faxes, so you can open or download one again if an email goes missing. Stripe sends you to that page after you pay, and we email you its link.
Can I choose my fax number?
Yes. Search by area code or city, or for digits you'd like in the number, and pick one from the list. If we can't get the number you picked, we cancel the payment, so your card isn't charged, and you pick another.
Does the number renew?
No. You pay once for 7 days, 30 days or 1 year, and nothing renews by itself. To keep the number longer, open your inbox page and choose Add days. The days you buy are added to the same number.
Will you remind me before my number ends?
Yes, by email, 3 days before it ends, or 1 day before for a 7-day number. The email links to your inbox page, where you add days.
What happens when my number ends?
We keep it for 3 more days. Faxes sent to it in that time wait on your inbox page until you add days to open them. After those 3 days we release the number and delete everything received on it. We never give a released number to another FaxFair customer.
What do you keep, and for how long?
We keep your email address while you have the number and erase it when the number is released. Each fax stays on your inbox page for 7 days, or until you delete it or the number is released. We send your faxes by email through Resend, an email service, which keeps a copy of each email, with the fax, for 30 days. The PDF in your email is yours to keep. Stripe takes the payment, so we never see your card. The privacy policy lists everything.
Can I get a fax number outside the US?
No. Our numbers are US numbers with US area codes, and we don't offer numbers in other countries.
I lost the link to my inbox. What do I do?
Open the inbox page and type the email you gave when you bought the number. If it matches a number, we email you the link again.
