How to print it so it fits
In the print window, choose "Actual size" or "100%", not "Fit to page", so the margins stay as designed. Use the letter PDF if your printer takes US letter paper, as in the US and Canada, and the A4 PDF if it takes A4.
Blank templates have a small "Free template from faxfair.com" line at the bottom, and the online maker has a box to leave it off. Since a blank sheet works for any fax, it's worth printing a few to keep next to the machine.
How to fill it in by hand
- Use black or dark blue ink, not pencil or a light color, because a fax arrives in black and white only.
- Write in block capitals, a little larger than you normally would. They're easier to read once the page is turned into fax dots.
- Write the numbers one digit at a time. Copy the fax number from the form or letter, and add a phone number they can call you on.
In normal mode a fax scans about 98 lines per inch, by the 1981 draft of the fax standard. In our view that's coarse enough to blur tiny or faint handwriting.
When to use a specific design
A generic cover sheet such as Classic, Minimal or Fill by hand suits almost every fax. Use a specific one when the office expects certain details.
